Pirates break losing streak
The Pittsburgh Pirates finally broke their seven game losing streak with a win against the Rockies. The Pirates were on the brink of losing their first place standing in the division, but with the win, they retained their lead.
The Pirates had Mitch Keller to thank for the win. Keller pitched a complete game, with nine innings, no runs, eight K's, and one walk. Keller is now four and one and is proving to be the pitcher the Pirates need him to be. Keller was the one to stop the Schneid and get the Pirates back on track.
The Pirates also had some help from Castro who hit a two RBI home run. KeBryan Hayes moved back to the leadoff spot and had two hits, while Reynolds and McCutchen's bats cooled off.
While the Pirates got the win, and their streak is over, they still have some work to do. The bats need to come alive and the Pirates need to continue to win series by series.
The Pirates have two more games against the Rockies, hopefully the bats come alive. Pirates fans should keep the faith and continue to support the team. With Keller's performance, the Pirates have a chance to remain in first place and continue to make progress.
