Celtics hot, Sixers struggle
The Philadelphia 76ers have been one of the most successful teams this season, but their quest to win the championship fell short with a blowout loss to the Celtics in game two of the series. The Celtics evened up the series one game apiece, and the Sixers were unable to overcome the Celtics' hot shooting performance.
The Celtics' star player, Jason Tatum, played 19 minutes and shot one of seven from the floor, zero of three from the three-point line, scoring seven points and having four fouls. Despite Tatum's poor performance, the Celtics were able to win the game. Joel Embiid returned to action after winning the MVP, but only scored 15 points with three rebounds and no assists.
James Harden had a poor performance, shooting 2 of 14 from the floor and 0 of 6 from the three-point line. He managed to get 10 assists, but only 12 points. Tobias Harris had 16 points and 7 rebounds, and Maxie had 13 points, going 6 of 14 and 4 of 3 from the 3-point line. The Sixers got nothing from the bench, with PJ Tucker only managing 5 points.
The Celtics' Malcolm Brogdon had an incredible performance, scoring 23 points off the bench and shooting 6 of 10 from 3. Jalen Brown had 25 points and 3 from 3, and the other role players like White and Smart had 15 points and Williams had 12.
The Sixers shot 39.2%, while the Celtics shot 46.7%. The Sixers only managed 6 threes, shooting 20%, while the Celtics hit 20. The Celtics also had twice as many assists as the Sixers, with 26 compared to 13. The Celtics had 6 steals, while the Sixers only had 2.
It was clear that the Celtics were playing like a team that was down one nothing, playing for their lives. The Sixers didn't have it tonight, and the Celtics' shots seemed to be going in while the Sixers' shots were not. The Celtics' hot shooting was too much for the Sixers, and they were unable to keep up. The Celtics' depth and ability to move the ball was a key factor in their victory. The Sixers will need to step up their game if they want to even up the series in game three.
The 76ers will win game 3
Fortunately, the Sixers have a secret weapon that they can rely on to help them even up the series: Joel Embiid. After missing two weeks with an injury, Embiid was finally back in the lineup for the Sixers. His presence was felt immediately, as he was able to provide a spark to the team. His size and strength were a huge advantage for the Sixers, and he was able to help them stay in the game. With Embiid back in the lineup, the Sixers should be able to make a run in game three.
