Fielding errors cost the Bucs
The Buccos lost to Tampa Bay in a crushing 8-1 defeat on the 3rd of May, 2023. The game was close until fielding errors by Castro and Bae opened the game up and took the wind out of the Pirate's sails. The Buccos' pitching was strong, Mitch Keller giving up one earned run on five innings and 8 strikeouts. Unfortunately, the relief pitching gave up a couple of homers, and the Buccos were unable to generate any more offense than Cutch's home run and Bae's two stolen bases - aggressive, but not able to convert into runs.
The Buccos' performance in the game was a stark reminder that fielding errors can be the difference between a win and a loss. In this case, the errors cost them the game and their record fell to 20 and 11. This is a crucial lesson for this young team, as they need to ensure they maintain their focus and concentration on the field to avoid costly mistakes.
The Buccos still have a winning record and their starting pitchers still look good, so there is still hope for them to turn things around. They need to ensure that their bats get hot and they can come out of this six game set with these two teams (Tampa Bay and Toronto) at .500.
Fielding errors can be the difference between a win and a loss and the Buccos need to ensure that they maintain their focus and concentration on the field to avoid costly mistakes. If the Buccos can do this, they can still come out of this six game set with a winning record.
